PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE August 1982 - Present Director, Mike Dodds Mosaic, (Grubbie Graphics Ink 1982-93). Company formed to create new visual possibilities with computer technology. Four years using Intergraph computer aided design workstation. Created finished art, typefaces, 3 dimensional models and logos. Experimentation with paint, video digitization and animation using Commodore Amiga computer 1985/86. Desktop publishing using Apple computer in 1988, along with regular exhibitions until late 1991. In 1992 a ceramic tile studio was established in Surry Hills to create small tesserae and develop production methods. The 'pixels' on a computer screen could be fixed as tesserae on walls and floors. Develop methodology and teach mosaic workshops from 1994-2000. Moulds for small square and octagon tiles, masks, even Moroccan designs, were produced to mid 1998. Prototyped a mosaic kit containing handmade tiles for sale in hardware stores. The kit included designs for house numbers. Later used the numbers for a children's counting book in 2000. Launch mdmosaic website in November 2000. Produce animated movies.
